Sometimes I sit and wonder,

Why Jesus died for me.

A sinner that I am,

He died to set me free.

He took my place on Calvary

When they nailed Him to a cross.

Would we do that for Him as well,

No matter what the cost?

Jesus loves us, this we know,

Beyond a shadow of doubt.

He's always there for you and me,

It is He, I can't live without.

I wonder why He loves me still,

When I have done things wrong.

He picks me up when I am weak,

And then He makes me strong.

God always gently speaks to me,

In a tender and loving voice.

He tells me that He forgives,

And now I should rejoice.

So I shall go to sleep at night,

With Jesus’ hand in mine.

I’ll bow my head and talk to Him,

Oh Holy One Divine.

When I awake to morning dawn,

I'll thank Him once again.

For Jesus is in my heart to stay,

And it's there He will remain.
