You can take away my possessions;

You can hurt me with your words.

But you can't take my faith away,

I have in God above

You can hit me causing bruises,

Slander me, if joy to you that gives.

But you can't take my faith away,

For in my heart, He lives.

You can tell your lies to others,

But you see, they know me too.

But you can't take my faith away,

For my Lord will see me through.

You can act as though you're righteous;

It's not me you will answer to.

But you can't take my faith away,

For my God to me will be true.

You can steal from me as you have done,

Make your brags about what you've got.

But you can't take my faith away,

For I know God loves me a lot.

You can deny the wrong you've done,

But just remember this.

You can't take my faith away,

For I know that God exists.

He's the one who sees me through

These times that I now face.

He knows my faith in Him is strong

And I know His Holy Grace.
